I was shocked to read in The Argus (May 14) Albion manager Gus Poyet’s comments following the Crystal Palace defeat.
He says “contracts mean nothing” and that his whole attitude to the club has changed, especially if he doesn’t get millions to spend before next season.
His statements are a bit rich because, in my opinion, Ian Holloway (the manager of Crystal Palace) tactically out-thought Poyet on the night and reduced Albion’s efforts to second-best.
My sympathies go to Albion chairman Tony Bloom, who has singlehandedly brought more to the club and its fans than Poyet ever has and probably ever will.
With our magnificent stadium, fantastic supporters and an impending state-of-the-art training ground, most managers would be bursting with enthusiasm about the future.
Sorry Gus, but if all that’s not good enough for you, I suggest you get on your bike and let someone else share all of our dreams.
