A thief posing as a salesman stole money from a 92-year-old pensioner.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw a man knocking on doors on Eastern Avenue in Polegate on Tuesday morning (May 14).
The trickster knocked on the door of a 92-year-old man and told him his window security needed upgrading.
He then asked the victim if he could look around at the inside of his windows. After the victim had let him in, the suspect was left unattended in the house.
Later the owner of the house asked for ID and the man said he would go and get it from his car, but never returned.
The victim later found some money had been taken.
Detective Constable Damon Deans-Cane said: "Always make sure you ask for ID from someone before you let them into your house and if they don't have any, or refuse, never let them in. This man is described as in his late 20s, light or mousey short hair and about 5' 11" and stocky.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting serial 411 of 14/5 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
