Residents are reporting the loss of their TV signal following the launch of new mobile phone technology.
Homeowners in the Whitehawk area of Brighton lost their Freeview channels on Monday afternoon after workers installed the new 4g mobile phone aerials.
The Argus reported on May 3 that the latest mobile phone signal could affect Freeview in two out of every three homes in the city.
The new technology is being developed to provide super-fast speeds for laptops, tablets, PCs and smart phones.
Although at800, the company behind the changes, refused to say how many homes it was expected to disrupt, it confirmed that it had sent out 80,000 warning postcards across Brighton and Hove.
Robert Clarke, who lives in Robert Lodge, in Whitehawk Road, lost all of his channels on Monday afternoon.
He added that he had been advised to climb on his roof by at800 staff to see if he had a booster box.
He said: “I did inform them that most of the people in my block are pensioners, and would not be climbing on to the roof.
“I just don’t think it is very fair.”
An at800 spokesman dismissed the suggestion, putting it down to a “misunderstanding”.
He added that the changes were likely to affect many homes, with those living in blocks of flats more likely to have problems.
He said: “We advise anyone experiencing a problem with their signal to contact us and we will send someone out to fit an adapter.
“It’s free of charge and that will fix the problem instantly.”
