A consultation on new bus and cycle lane proposals began on Monday.
As part of £5.8 million plans to boost bus use, Brighton and Hove City Council has revealed changes it wants to make to the Edward Street and Eastern Road corridor.
The local authority believes it will lead to “significant reductions” in private car use by pushing people towards more sustainable forms of transport.
Among the plans include creating a westbound bus and taxi lane on the approach to the Edward Street and Pavilion Parade junction.
Council officials have now confirmed a six-week consultation on the scheme from Pavilion Gardens to Freshfield Road will run until June 21.
A public exhibition will be held at Brighton Youth Centre in Edward Street on May 25 from 2pm to 8pm.
The plans will also be presented at the Tarner Local Action Team meeting at The Millwood Centre from 6.30pm on May 15 and Queens Park LAT at the Southover Pub on May 22 from 7.30pm.
The local authority said there will be further consultation on proposals for Eastern Road and the Valley Gardens area in the coming year.
The results will be reported to a future meeting of the council’s environment and transport committee.
If agreed, work could start in the autumn.
