When it comes to rubbish in our streets, industrial action is one thing but a total lack of response and disregard of council taxpayers is shocking and unacceptable.
How hard would it be to contract a replacement crew or, failing that, a few guys with a couple of vans to deal with the overflow of bins in the streets?
My street was a disgrace, with rubbish scattered everywhere around the communal bins, yet I noticed streets with the old-style individual green bins had no such problem.
An improvement of service? I think not.
Please can we have an explanation from one of the well-paid “executives” at Brighton and Hove City Council, which failed the city and its residents.
Colin Christie, Denmark Villas, Hove
The roll call of incompetence by this council grows by the week. Not content with savage parking fees, ridiculous 20mph speed limits and welcoming travellers and protest groups, it now faces the prospect of binmen on strike with summer looming.
We won’t forget these things when election time arrives.
John Pearce, Frederick Gardens, Brighton
