I write further to recent developments in our national news which have again raised questions over the spare room subsidy or “bedroom tax” implemented by the Government.
I was so saddened to hear about Stephanie Bottrill from Solihull in the West Midlands, who committed suicide, blaming the Government in a note she left behind.
She lived on her own in a three-bedroom house vacated by her children.
There are families with two or more children (like us) who are in desperate need of a bigger home.
I fully understand that people have raised their families in three-bed houses but when their children move on so must they to allow other families to have what they had.
My husband and I are on all the exchange websites outgoing. We have had a few viewings but have had our share of timewasters.
Please, people – there aren’t one or two-bed flats with lifts, balconies and private-use, south-facing gardens.
Some people are asking and expecting the impossible.
How many more lives are going to be sadly lost before people realise we should help one another?
