A report into NHS failings is being discussed at a meeting today.

The Brighton and Hove Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will be explaining the findings of the recent Francis Report into Mid Staffordshire NHS Trust.

An extensive inquiry found fundamental lapses in standards had caused gross failings in patient care.

To help NHS organisations across the country prevent a recurrence of these lapses, the report listed 290 recommendations on themes such as quality of nursing care.

At today's meeting Brighton’sCCG will give an overview of the key findings and discuss how the CCG can work with people in Brighton and Hove to ensure nothing similar could happen locally.

Soline Jerram, CCG director of clinical quality and primary care, said: “It is crucial that the culture of secrecy which unnecessarily compromised patient safety in Mid Staffs is never replicated in Brighton and Hove.”

The meeting will be at the Brighthelm Centre in North Road, Brighton, between 11.30am and 1pm.
