I find it quite interesting that the Brighton and Hove Labour Party are supporting the GMB union in the ongoing Cityclean dispute.
This seems a total conflict of interest, not only due to the fact that the Labour Party and GMB union share offices in Hove, but they also receive financial support from them.
The council is, quite rightly, trying to negotiate fairness for all council workers, and in particular ensuring that women receive equal pay to men for doing the same type of work.
It is opportunistic for the Brighton and Hove Labour Party to try to undermine this process while offering no practical alternative solution.

As bins and recycling boxes start overflowing and our streets fill with litter, residents will not be happy to see pictures of Green councillors who are supposed to be running the city waving placards and falling out among themselves.
We have the absurd spectacle of Green councillors demonstrating against a decision their leader says they were fully aware of and supported – at least, until it became unpopular.
It is, on a much larger scale, a repeat of the recent farce where a Green councillor demonstrated to save a tree that she herself had voted to cut down.
The Greens can’t be in power and be the opposition as well.
The city needs better leadership – leadership with some sense and experience.
With the Tories only offering negative labels and the privatisation of local services, more people are realising that Labour offers what the residents of this city need.
