A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of armed robbery.
It follows three knifepoint robberies in Brighton and one attempted knifepoint robbery.
Just after 10pm on Saturday May a man entered the Co-op store in St Georges Road, Brighton, produced a knife and demanded cash.
The staff refused and he ran off without taking anything.
As the result of an immediate police search of the area a 33-year old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of the attempted robbery and is currently in custody for interview and further enquiries.
Police are also to interview him regarding the three previous robberies in the area over the previous few days.
