A man has appeared in court charged with robbery following an attack on a cash in transit van outside Waitrose.
The van was targeted outside the supermarket in High Street, Eastbourne, at 11am on Tuesday, April 30.
Two staff from the van were at a cash point when they were approached by two men who said they had a gun and demanded cash.
The staff refused to hand over the cash and the men ran off towards the store's car park area.
Billy Brown, 31, of Coronation Gardens, Battle, appeared in custody at Brighton Magistrates Court on Friday and was remanded in custody to appear at crown court on July 19.A 36-year old woman arrested on suspicion of the same offence was released on bail until July 11. Enquiries continue to trace a second man suspected of the same offence.
