A talk and exhibition on the late singer-songwriter Nick Drake will take place this weekend.
The event will be hosted by Michael Burdett, a former Island Records post-boy who came across unheard recordings and tapes produced by Drake in the 1970s. The tapes were destined for a skip but were retrieved by Mr Burdett to use in a home studio.
More than 20 years later, Mr Burdett played one of the tapes and discovered an unknown version of Drake’s Cello Song.
A spokesman said: “Michael set off with a CD player, headphones and a camera and travelled the length and breadth of Britain with the aim of offering individuals an exclusive opportunity to hear the recording.
“These photographs document that journey and the reactions provoked by this seemingly unwanted piece of music.”
The session is on Sunday at St Luke’s Church, Old Shoreham Road, Brighton, at 8pm.
