A mayor has become the first person in more than a century to hold the post for six consecutive years.
Chris Thomas-Atkin was re-elected to become the civil figurehead for Burgess Hill at the annual meeting of the town council.
Councillor Anne Jones was re-elected as deputy mayor.
Coun Thomas-Atkin is the first chairman to serve six consecutive years since Alfred P Scrase who served from 1895 to 1905.
