A teenager who was twice the legal alcohol limit for driving when he travelled along the A272 on three wheels has been banned from the road for 19 months.
Jobless Luke Drea, 18, of Blackgate Lane, Pulborough was arrested on May 1 at around half midnight.
He was stopped and arrested on the A24 north of Buck Barn and charged with drink driving and driving a vehicle likely to cause danger of injury.
He was found to have 71 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, twice the legal limit.
He was convicted at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on May 1.
He was also told to pay a £200 fine, £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
Sergeant Neil Cox said: “Drea could have caused serious injury to himself or to someone else on the road that day when he chose to drive the car knowing full well he was over the limit.
“Thankfully his reckless behaviour was reported before anything serious happened and we were able to arrest and charge him for the offence. The courts have now taken away his licence for a substantial amount of time.”
