Police were called to offer crowd control after so many spectators went to watch a van on fire.
The van had propane cylinders in it in Landport Road, Lewes, when it caught alight at about 9.20pm yesterday (April 24).
It was badly damaged, an East Sussex Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said.
She explained that Sussex Police had to help out because the blaze attracted onlookers.
