A campaigner has accused road bosses of ducking the issue of deep potholes.
Sarah Osborne, a Lib Dem Lewes district councillor, filled up a pothole in Station Road in Plumpton Green with toy ducks to highlight the state of the county’s crumbling roads.
She said: “Last September the county council did some small-scale patching up, but the whole section of the road needs to be resurfaced.
“I have also been reporting many other potholes on nearby rural roads and will keep pressing for action.”
Carl Maynard, the lead member for transport on East Sussex County Council, said: “We have already invested some £30 million in the past three years and we have got three times as many gangs responding to the problems.”
