This unusual home is hardly run of the mill.

The historic building, on Windmill Drive in Westdene, Brighton, was built in 1885 and is believed to be the last brick-built windmill in Sussex – perhaps even in England.

Estate agents Spencer and Leigh describe the Grade II listed building as “beautifully converted” with “magnificent views over the countryside and towards the sea”.

And best of all, the top floor of the mill still has a capped machine room which houses the massive wheel connecting the sails.

“It has incredible views and an alluring history, too.
“It was formerly known as Waterhall Mill and it’s understood that it was the last brick-built mill in Sussex and possibly England.
“During the Second World War it was used as a lookout post for the Home Guard.
“In 1990 it was struck by lightning during a snow storm and it’s also the same windmill that is illustrated on Patcham Junior School’s logo.”
