A ferry company has been criticised for not keeping customers in the loop about cancellations to their services.
Passengers for Transmanche Ferries say the firm failed to communicate with them after services from Newhaven to Dieppe were cancelled at short notice on Saturday, December 22.
Sunday crossings (December 23) were also cancelled with customers left feeling not very reassured by promises that there might be a service today (December 24).
One of those frustrated customers was airline steward Frederic Hardy who had booked his place on the 11.05am service on Saturday in the hope of spending his first Christmas in a decade with his family in Dieppe.
The 49-year-old from Brighton said he received a message saying that the service was cancelled and then spent the day trying to get information from the company.
'No help'
He has now been forced to spend £200 on one-way train tickets.
Mr Hardy said: “I’ve had no help at all from Transmanche or LD Lines, their information has been absolutely non-existent.
“It’s been an absolute nightmare.”
The most recent announcement from LD Lines’ Twitter account was from November 23 offering customers the chance to win a skiing trip in the French Alps.
An LD Lines member of staff said: “The crossings on Saturday and Sunday were cancelled because of technical difficulties.”
