The streets of Hanover will go back in time this winter with the arrival of wood deliveries in the old fashioned way.
Buddy, a wood delivering horse, will be bringing people their wintery needs every Sunday.
The horse is used by Hoofpower, an eco log delivery service.
Buddy’s owner, Mary Walker enjoys bringing logs to Hanover every Sunday.
She said: “It’s such a pleasure to see people young and old come out and have a chat and meet Buddy and feed him a carrot.”
Mary and Hoofpower partner Andy Mather have worked with horses for over 10 years.
They decided to create the traditional use of horse and cart: “to turn pleasure into a little business idea.”
Whenever possible they are out on the cart. Hoofpower will be delivering well seasoned wood from a locally sustainable woodland.
Mary and Andy’s work with horses has also included charity work. With the horse, they walked along the South Downs way for 80 miles over eight days to raise money for Brown Bread Horse Rescue centre.
In the warmer months Hoofpower collect recycling in Whitehawk each month for the green centre and are funded by the council.
