Sign in to add a tributeLooking back across my 36 years (1967- 2003) as a teacher of English at Tiffin School, Kingston-upon Thames, Alain stands out in the memory as one of a very small number of absolutely outstanding students. It was no surprise that he won a place at Oxford and achieved first class honours in his degree. More importantly, he was an unfailingly kind, modest and unassuming young man.
I'm pleased to know that he spent some years (2005-2016) teaching at Blatchington Mill School, where I had been a pupil (1954-1962) during its previous incarnation as Hove Grammar School.
