Bluesman James Lewis Carter Ford only started his musical career as T-Model Ford in his early 70s, having previously worked in a sawmill, driven a truck and served several prison sentences, including one for murder.
He is still recording new material for the Fat Possum Records label, combining traditional Chicago blues and jukejoint with the rawness of the Mississippi Delta sound.
And he has a pretty fearsome live reputation, apparently playing up to eight-hour sets in the clubs in Greenville.
He hasn’t let his age hold him back either – reportedly once telling studio session players: “T-Model Ford is going to remember you sorry ****ers how it’s done!”
* Starts 8pm, tickets £12.50/£15. Call 01273 736222.
