The three years since Indiana’s Magnolia Electric Co last released an album have been turbulent. Bassist Evan Farrell died in a house fire, and frontman Jason Molina has upped sticks to the UK, leaving the rest of the country-rock band back home.
It is in Farrell’s memory that new album Josephine has been made. “I don’t listen to a lot of music; I write more than I listen to, for sure,” says Molina. “I wanted to try something sonically more on the minimalist side, and I think we succeeded.”
