There's an Eastern flavour to the London Philharmonic Orchestra's weekend concert which culminates in Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade.

The show is the second of the Orchestra's three visits this spring to mark their 75th anniversary and is being conducted by Dmitry Sitkovetsky. Scheherazade takes its inspiration from the Arabian Nights, the story of young sultana of the title and her attempts to stave off her forthcoming execution by telling the sultan a series of stories, including the tales of Sinbad.

This concert also features Rossini's vibrant overture to The Thieving Magpie, and Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D performed by soloist Boris Garlitsky.
