There was always more to The Waterboys than just their huge hit single The Whole of the Moon and cult albums such as This Is The Sea and Fisherman's Blues.
Lead Waterboy, singer/songwriter Mike Scott, formed the band in 1981.
Their mix of folk influences and a richly dramatic Eighties production sound gained them a following of devoted fans. As well as showcasing Scott's own writing, The Waterboys soon became the training ground for songwriters such as World Party's Karl Wallinger and Robbie Williams' long-time collaborator Guy Chambers.
Now Scott is back with a new album Book of Lightning, the follow-up to 2003's Universal Hall.
- Starts 7.30pm, tickets £22.50. Call 01273 709709.
