Last week, Bestival's London HQ was broken into by a criminal gang who stole 15 specially commissioned Desert Island Disco Mirrorballs.

The mirrorballs were part of the Main Stage set for Nile Rodgers and Chic’s closing spectacular at BBC Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank’s Bestival music festival on the Isle of Wight this September.

The mirrorball thieves left a ransom note stating that they will release clues as to the whereabouts of the stolen contraband; with Brighton one of the locations where the priceless items have been hidden.

Bestival curator Rob da Bank and his team have offered a pair of Bestival tickets - worth £195 each - to any members of the public who find and return one of their Bestival Desert Island Disco mirrorballs.

Bestival HQ has heard one of the stolen mirrorballs is being dropped off in the city today (June 2) at lunchtime - and have a cryptic clue as to its whereabouts:

"In 1787 the family regally decamped
To Brighton in search of lots of sand
This mirrorball should quite easily be found
But don’t stop for tea at the cricket ground."
