Joined by their ever-changing backing ensemble, this was the London duo’s first date of a tour which is celebrating the release of their much-anticipated debut album Galore.

Over the past two years, Thumpers have supported indie heavyweights like Two Door Cinema Club and Chvrches.

Their experience in those bigger venues had clearly put them in good stead as album intro Marvel sounded atmospheric and vital.

Pepperell and Hamson JR, the duo who make up Thumpers, have been playing together since 2006 in the forgotten indie rave band Pull Tiger Tail.

Their connection was obvious as their live show sounded tight and professional, much different to their mid-noughties band.

Their brand of synth-laden pop is incredibly uplifting. Fan favourite Sound Of Screams sounded like gospel music as the five-part harmonies briefly turned the Green Door Store into a church.

On record, the band have a tendency to sound like a band played on Made In Chelsea cut scenes.

However when they play live, as final song Unkinder demonstrated, they are pop messiahs.
