Having already played a sold-out gig at The Haunt earlier this year, tonight’s return visit to our beautiful coastal city was one that has been highly anticipated for months.
In the rammed confines of Concorde 2, Foxes, along with her musically tight backing band, delivered a performance that encouraged the audience to sing, clap and scream.
But it was also one that will stay etched on the minds of many of the young gathered.
Previous single Let Go For Tonight is the type of pop song that sounds good driving along the coast with the car windows down, the sun out and the stereo on full blast.
Others wouldn’t sound out of place on an episode of The X Factor – the all-out pop tones of Foxes euphoric Holding Onto Heaven ticks all the right boxes. It’s with big, brash, chorus-heavy songs that Foxes excels.
One sneak peek at the UK singles chart and it instantly becomes apparent there are a lot of young female singers vying to be the one who breaks through and leaves a lasting mark on society, but having already had top ten singles on both sides of the Atlantic, this British singer is a little out of the ordinary and might be the all the evidence needed to prove that the UK can produce good, strong, radio-friendly pop artists. America had better watch out.
