It's not often you get the chance to walk away from the hustle and bustle of Brighton's West Street into a magical world of kings and queens, talking shoes and a couple of cheeky giraffes. But with Shoebaby, the Long Nose Puppets company offered just such a joyous retreat.
Telling Joyce Dunbar's popular story of a baby who goes on an adventure in a shoe, the puppets themselves were a glimpse into the imagination of Joyce's daughter Polly Dunbar, a well-known author and illustrator in her own right. Totally charming and oh-so-cute, they sang their way through a catchy soundtrack penned by Gomez's Tom Gray.
In a whirl of disco-ball glitter and bubbles, this colourful and captivating show was a welcome break from reality for both children and those of us masquerading as adults.
Plus, in an added bonus after the show, some of the puppets came out into the sunny confines of The Warren's garden for a mini meet-and-greet with the children, which ensured the magic continued for that little bit longer.
