When rock stars finish a show they famously go back to their hotel rooms to throw televisions out the window.

Comedian George Egg spends his off-stage time working out how to turn a travel iron into a panini press.

Anarchist Cook came from his attempt to sidestep fast food and room service in favour of hand-made gourmet-style food created in the confines of a budget hotel room.

Over three courses, Egg shows off his urban foraging, cooking and tool-making skills, accompanied by jokes and stories ranging from the surreal to the observational.

As an anarchist, Egg is more about prawn than Molotov cocktails, which is reflected in his style of humour. Aside from a few cheeky scatalogical references much of the laughter comes from his slightly twisted world view, with nerdy references to Raiders Of The Lost Ark joining tips to find the best fresh herbs in Hove.

The highly original show should open whole new horizons for Brighton-based Egg, with a wealth of new recipes and observations paving the way for a bright future.

And anyone who joined the post-show scramble to taste his wares would agree he has genuine skills as a cook.
