Three hours of hypnotic music glided past with barely a pause.
Anglo-American married couple Rue Royale were the headliners and they had to be on form to follow the other guests before them.
At the start of a European tour, they weaved their indie-folk-pop blend of keyboards, guitars and drums, with a well-honed ease. This was very much an evening of close harmony singing and Ruth and Brookln Dekker sang together as one voice, performing mainly tracks from their 2013 album Remedies Ahead.
Before them Cate Ferris had delighted and impressed with her original songs and layered harmonies using loops. Occasionally the beats did get away from her but such a warm-hearted performer can be easily forgiven.
Another couple, Choice, began the night with some delicate Gaelic-flavoured guitar, violin and percussion, as Claire Forrest layered her exquisite vocal.
All the female vocalists were accomplished but perhaps none more so than Katherine Rose who was the fourth act of this long but totally engaging evening. Other than Rue Royale all the artists are Brighton based, and the night was as much a testament to local talent as it was to the headliners.
