Local comedian Tucker, the star of Eastbourne pantomimes Aladdin and Sleeping Beauty, provided loads of laughs at Devonshire Park Theatre on Sunday.
Tucker adopted a similar cheeky style to that of Bradley Walsh as he made the stage his own with his laidback approach and superb comic timing. This often involved exchanging banter with the audience, who bombarded him with cries of “look behind you”.
Tucker showed a great line in put-downs when he told one talkative lady, “Sorry, I was talking when you were speaking.”
He also demonstrated that he has a good singing voice and got the evening off to a lively start with Tina Turner’s Proud Mary. Tucker later treated us to an extremely funny Elvis Presley send-up, complete with all-white costume.
Some of his singing routines were backed by members of the Zoe Pennington Dance Studio from Hailsham.
The main support act was the zany El Loco, alias Wayne Slater, with his magic tricks and comic pranks. These were mainly at the expense of two “volunteer” audience members and fitted in with pre-recorded vocals. But the charismatic Tucker’s quick-fire gags, including a string of wife jokes, provided the most humour.
