Max and Ivan took us to a school reunion in their cosy little show. Not their own school but everyone’s school, with all the characters – boys and girls – played by Max and Ivan.

It had to be slick, well directed and performed with gusto to be effective – and effective it was. With no props other than two chairs and a party popper, Max and Ivan painted the most entertaining picture. There were no costume changes, but Max and Ivan had a good shot at bringing the myriad of Woodhouse-esque characters to life, inevitably meeting themselves to great comic effect.

It was harmless fun for the cuddly little audience, while Max and Ivan took the opportunity to display their writing and acting talents.

Ivan is the “chubby Hitler” who does a good Emo Philips and is middle-aged in his 20s. Max looks like Will Young. They are Armstrong And Miller 20 years ago and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Max And Ivan: The Reunion was funny, ticked all the boxes but was sadly lacking in any comedy balls. Emasculated, sanitised and Michael McIntyre in two separate bodies.
