For those in the know, Bom-Bane’s is a welcoming, quirky café, brought to life by its musical host, Jane Bom-Bane.
For those who don’t, the month of May offers the perfect opportunity to get to know this little place nestled on Kemp Town’s George Street.
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in May, crossword enthusiasts can sign up to search for clues hidden all over the cottage, in the upstairs flat, the cafe kitchen and the garden outside. There are three crosswords to be solved – easy, medium and cryptic – depending on your skill and ambition, so there’s a challenge for all.
This is a low-pressure, high-fun event, suitable for adults and children alike, as evidenced by the groups who attended on this sunny Sunday. Grandparents and grandchildren, family groups, friends and couples on dates enjoyed the challenge, cramming into the nooks and crannies of the old building.
As well as providing an enjoyable and lightly mentally testing hour, this event provides a tasty lunch box of black and white foods, as well as a soundtrack in keeping with the monochrome theme. Quirky, fun and relaxing: this is a brilliant event.
