THE latest batch of headliners have been announced for Europe’s biggest outdoor jazz festival, set in the South Downs.
In its eighth year, the three-day Love Supreme jazz festival will be returning to Glynde and hoping to build on the success of previous years.
Last year 50,000 people attended – a record for the event.
It is confirmed that the 2020 festival in the first weekend of July will feature American girl-group TLC, the Isley Brothers, Sergio Mendes and saxophonist Charles Lloyd with his Kindred Spirits group.
70s soul stars The Isley Brothers are now down from their once six-strong line-up to just Ronnie and Ernie Isley. The pair will be returning to the UK for the first time in ten years
“We’re so happy to return to the UK and to be able to now tell everybody that we’re performing at next year’s Love Supreme Jazz Festival,” they said. “We’ve heard so many great things about this event and can’t wait to have a party with our UK fans.”
The festival was started in 2013 to capitalise on the young UK jazz renaissance. It offers a balance of prominent acts from the UK jazz scene alongside a fair share of major headline acts and artists from the world of blues, funk, fusion and soul.
Alongside its three main stages, Love Supreme offers a varied selection of additional performance spaces, including dance and spoken word acts on the Bands and Voices stage.
One of the biggest-selling female R&B groups of all time, TLC will celebrate 25 years since the release of their CrazySexyCool album, which has sold over 14 million copies worldwide.
The group is made up of Tionne Watkins and Rozonda Thomas. Founding member Lisa Lopes was killed in 2002 in a car crash while conducting charity work in Honduras. Watkins and Thomas refused to replace her.
Brazilian bossa nova legend Sergio Mendes’s performance will be his only UK festival show of the year.
Love Supreme is the UK’s only camping jazz festival. Its 2019 line-up featured Gladys Knight, Lauryn Hill, Jimmy Cliff and jazz pianist Jamie Cullum.
Additional acts will be announced in the coming months.
Early bird tickets for Love Supreme Festival go on sale today with a 20 per cent discount on the final ticket price.
