RESIDENTS who saved community toilets have asked the public for help to keep them open.
The popular public toilets on South Strand, East Preston were designated for closure by Arun District Council last year.
Local residents formed the South Strand Community Toilets group to fundraise and ask people to donate towards operating costs.
Now, the whole village contribute towards the toilets including beach hut owners, Angmering residents associations, and Kingston Parish Council.
SSCT have improved and upgraded the toilet facilities through general repairs, internal and external decorating.
“We often find little notes left for the committee of SSCT complimenting the toilets and how clean and well maintained they look”, said volunteer Amanda Berry.
The group have now also bought a defibrillator from a combination of donations.
They are asking for donations to help keep the toilets afloat, money can be given to the Parish Council Office and to collection boxes at OneStop and the toilets.
