Venetia and the Voltage

Profile: Venetia’s career began as a DJ at Fabric, Ibiza’s Eden and Turnmills. When she returned to her hometown of Brighton she started working on an album and recruited Stuart Holt as a keyboard player. They found the rest of the band – Reuben Hurst, Luke Seddon and Lee Bridges – through “x-factoring and luck”. The band promote a monthly night called Have Fun! and played their first festival last year at Cambridgeshire’s Secret Garden Party. Sweet Beat is the b-side to a limited edition seven inch version of the band’s latest single Warning Song, available from Rounder Records, in Brighton Square, and Resident, in Kensington Gardens.

Influences:Mars Volta, Blondie, New Order, Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, Goldfrapp, Basement Jaxx, Groove Armada, Pendulum and Stanton Warriors.
