Influences: The Band, Dr John, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, JJ Cale, Bob Dylan, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Doors, Neil Young, Lou Reed, Radiohead, world music, jazz and blues.

Profile: Scenic Routes was formed in 2005 by singersongwriter Gary Halmkan. The six-piece has since regularly gigged around Brighton and London playing a blend of folk-rock-jazzy-klezmer.

Each member brings their own texture and diversity to the sound, which has previously entertained visitors at last year’s Out Of The Ordinary Festival, Patchfest and Brighton Live. Their debut album The Land Of Waltz And Wine was recorded this spring.
