For the first time in its history, Fip, the Parisian radio station renowned over the English Channel for its forward-thinking programming and open approach to all music genres, is coming to broadcast from the UK.
The show will be transmitted live across national French radio, as well as on the Fip web stream internationally.
The station, France Inter Paris, was formed in 1971 by Jean and Pierre Garretto Codouand and the show is part of its 40th birthday celebrations.
Tru Thoughts Records’s Paul Jonas, also Fortune Of War co-manager, cut the deal with Fip, which is bringing two acts from France to play.
The Independent Trio are a young French jazz group who have just released their debut album Ignition, and Parisian pianist S.Mos is a man who loves jazz as much as rap.
Brighton label Tru Thoughts have booked Belleruche, three Brits who fuse electro, hip-hop, rock and blues, and folk-tinged English singer-songwriter Sara Mitra from Nostalgia 77’s (he will join her on the day for interview and DJing) Impossible Ark label.
The show will be live on air between 6pm and 10pm with DJs after.
Tonight (June 17) Fip will be at Kemp Town’s Sidewinder pub for a warm-up night with Phil Marten (Turin Brakes) and Paul Jonas.
