Darren Freeman and new Whitehawk assistant Craig Brewster are working hard in an attempt to bring in two new players.
The Hawks are short on numbers following the departures of Lewis Taylor and Moses Swaibu.
They could have one new face in place before tomorrow’s FA Trophy tie at home to fellow Conference south side Bishop’s Stortford, who they also host in the league next Saturday.
Manager Freeman is also trying to extend the loan of Albion development squad midfielder Courtney Richards.
Taylor is unable to commit himself fully to Hawks after taking a new job as a postman and has joined Carshalton, while former Lincoln centre-back Swaibu has failed to make the impact he was expected to.
Freeman said: “Craig and I are working hard to bring a couple of players in.
“We are also trying to extend Courtney’s loan. He has come off the bench in the last couple of games and shown what he can do.”
A goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time denied Whitehawk their first win in nine games at Concord Rangers in midweek.
A rueful Freeman said: “If you think we could have taken three points from that game, we were denied a win with the last kick of the game against Gosport, we were 2-0 up against Bath and drew and 2-0 up against Havant and drew. That is the difference from where we are and fifth in the league.
“That is what happens when things aren’t going for you but the boys are playing some really good football and if we take our last two performances into Saturday we can cause an upset against a team third in the table.”
