Eastbourne Borough are hoping to extend the loan deals of defenders Steve Cook and Yado Mambo after releasing midfielder Kane Wills.
Wills found his opportunities limited at Priory Lane following a summer move from Ebbsfleet United and had his contract cancelled after playing just 60 minutes of competitive football.
The former Albion youngster was unable to force his way into the team ahead of the likes of Simon Johnson, Simon Weatherstone and Matt Smart and was allowed to join Lewes on loan last month.
Ollie Rowe has also extended his stay at the Dripping Pan on a temporary basis with Borough keen to keep Cook and Mambo longer than their original one-month loan spells. The pair are due to return to Albion and Charlton respectively after Saturday's home game against Luton Town but head coach Nick Greenwood admits discussions are under way to extend the deals.
Greenwood said: “They have both done really well and played an important part in the results we have picked up over the last month so we would like to keep them.
“We will be talking to their parent clubs but it depends on a number of factors. We will have to assess our injury situation and we’ve also got to take into account we might have two FA Cup games in the next month which they would be unlikely to be available for.
“Kane is a good, young player but we have a lot of options in central midfield so it was unlikely he was going to be involved week in, week out. He needs to be playing regularly so going to Lewes is an ideal opportunity for him.
“Ollie is also going to stay at Lewes for the meantime but we see his long term future with us. We can recall him at any time and think he will definitely play an important part for us this season.”
Borough were handed a favourable home tie in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup yesterday when they were drawn against Ryman premier outfit Harrow Borough a week on Saturday.
The two other surviving Sussex sides in the competition – Lewes and Crawley – face tough trips to Blue Square Bet premier sides Cambridge United and Newport County.
Garry Wilson’s side have been drawn away in the previous two seasons and have just endured long trips to Bath City and Newport County in the league with another marathon journey to Grimsby coming up at the end of the month.
Greenwood added: “We won't underestimate Harrow but we are pleased to get a home draw. “It would be nice to have a good run in the FA Cup both from a financial point of view and to raise the profile of the club. We know it won’t be easy against Harrow but this gives us an opportunity to progress.”
