Bognor 0, Albion Reserves 4.

George O'Callaghan declared himself ready to get Albion's play-off challenge back on track after a triumphant return from suspension for the Reserves.

The on-loan Ipswich midfielder had not played since his red card against Carlisle but showed few signs of rustiness as he helped the Seagulls to a 4-0 win at Bognor in the Sussex Senior Cup.

Nathan Elder opened the scoring in the first half and further goals from Sam Rents, David Martot and Alex Revell booked Albion's place in the quarter finals.

O'Callaghan played the full 90 minutes and has now set his sights on a place in the team for Saturday's clash with Swindon.

He said: "It was good for me to get back into action and I thought I did okay considering I have not played for a while.

"I'm itching to go on Saturday as I came here to play games so it has been frustrating to miss the last three.

"I have kept myself sharp over the last few weeks and fully expect to be in the starting XI on Saturday. I could sit on the bench at Ipswich so I will be disappointed not to start.

"We haven't lost in the 13 games I've played in so hopefully I can be a lucky mascot against Swindon."

O'Callaghan was one of a number of players in a strong Albion line-up who will be hoping to be involved against Swindon in some capacity.

Revell and Paul Reid continued their comebacks from injury while the presence of Guy Butters, Doug Loft and Martot highlighted the increased strength in depth the Seagulls enjoy this season.

Bognor were also close to full strength apart from the absence of Albion loan trio Andy Pearson, Scott Chamberlain and Sam Gargan together with the suspended Michael Birmingham.

Despite the pedigree on show both sides struggled to find any rhythm in a scrappy first half short of genuine chances.

Albion keeper John Sullivan was forced into action in only the fifth minute when he parried a 20-yard effort from Scott Harris but that was the closest the Rocks came in the opening 45 minutes.

The Seagulls did not look much more threatening going forward and when they did take the lead in the 26th minute it was courtesy of a mistake by old boy Chris Breach. The former Seagull defender slipped when trying to intercept a long ball from trialist Michael Kamara and Elder needed no second invitation as he chested the ball down and fired past Craig Stoner from close range.

Albion were forced into a reshuffle midway through the first half when Loft limped off. Oliver Rowe came on in the centre of defence with Mayo moving to left-back and Rents pushing into midfield.

Rents made it 2-0 just after the restart as he was left unmarked at the far post and had enough time to cut back inside and finish with his weaker right foot.

Bognor's hopes of a comeback received a huge blow when skipper Luke Nightingale was forced off with a shoulder injury. The Rocks had already used the only two substitutes they had on the bench and Albion took control against ten men in the final 20 minutes.

Martot put the result beyond doubt with a low strike after cutting in from the right in the 76th minute and Revell made it 4-0 two minutes later following good work by Paul Reid.
