Albion newcomer Alan Navarro showed his nous tonight in a 2-0 friendly victory at AFC Wimbledon.
The former MK Dons midfielder, making his debut on trial, impressed boss Russell Slade in the opening 45 minutes before he was among eight players substituted at half-time.
Slade said: “He’s got know-how. He might not be the most athletic and he hasn’t done any pre-season training but he knows where the ball is going and he knows where to be.
"When he is on the ball his decision-making nine and a half times out of ten is the right decision, the right pass. You cannot buy that."
Slade was also encouraged by the display of first half goalscorer Kevin McLeod in a win rounded off by substitute Adam Virgo in stoppage time.
"I thought he gave a good performance," Slade said. "He was a positive and I'm pleased for him. It was probably his best performance since I've been here."
Michael Ricketts did not feature and the one-time England international will not figure for the Seagulls again following his brief trial.
Slade said: "Michael's had his little spell here. I don't foresee him coming back."
