Albion fans have launched a last-ditch attempt to persuade Vicente to stay – by making him feel at home in Barnsley.
Supporters will wear matador outfits and wave Spanish flags at today’s closing fixture of the season in South Yorkshire.
They will also display a banner declaring: “Vicente: Te Queremos, Quedate por favor”, which translated means “We love you, please stay”.
The match at Oakwell could be Vicente’s last in an Albion shirt, with the future of the former Valencia star up in the air.
Stephen Kuhn, a Lincoln-based season ticket holder at The Amex, has organised the Vicente love-in via the internet.
He said: “A few fans have said they are going for the whole Spanish matador outfits and I think there will be quite a few moustaches and matador hats.
“I’ve got a Valencia flag and my son has got a Spanish flag. I am also going to hand around some Spanish flags to other Brighton fans.
“I am hoping to turn the away end into a Spanish end full of Spanish colour.”
Vicente has been a big hit with fans and a big influence on the team, despite limited appearances due to injury problems.
Kuhn said: “He has only started ten games but I have been on the train with people having the conversation about whether he is the best player ever to have played for Albion.
“I am not sure, if he signs, we will automatically be a better team but I would love him to sign because he is worth the admission money alone. Some of the passes he hits are inch and ounce perfect.
“He is the best player at the club, a Premier League quality player. If we can do anything which helps persuade him to stay that would be great but if he goes it would be really nice if we show him how much we support him.”
