Maty Ryan is set for his first match as an Albion player today – and his new club will be watching.
The Seagulls will be represented in the stands in Sochi for the Confederations Cup group fixture between Australia and Germany.
In The Argus today, we reveal how Socceroos staff helped get the most complex deal in Albion’s history over the line.
The club are pressing on with plans to have three senior goalkeepers in place by the time the Premier League kicks off.
That means tying up Niki Maenpaa on a new deal and adding another signing before allowing Christian Walton to take up one of several loan offers.
The Aussie line-up is also likely to include midfielder Aaron Mooy, being targeted by several clubs including Albion.
Mooy spoke to Ryan about the Seagulls as the latter sought advice about English football to help make up his mind over his next destination.
Huddersfield are reported to have agreed a fee with Manchester City for the man who played an inspirational part in their promotion via the play-offs while on loan.
They remain favourites to secure him on a more permanent deal but no deal has been finalised and competition could increase if he enjoys a good Confederations Cup.
Other clubs are believed to remain in the running for Mooy with City likely to assess all offers which come in – and not necessarily opt for the highest bid.
