Albion are plotting another raid on Germany as they seek a left-back.
The Seagulls are involved in discussions with Ingolstadt over Markus Suttner.
They are expected to step up their attempt to bring in the 30–year-old Austrian international, valued at about £2 million, this week.
Albion have already signed attacking midfielder Pascal Gross from Ingolstadt, who were relegated from the top flight last season.
They are aware Suttner also fancies a crack at the Premier League.
Suttner was a regular last season having previously played 131 league games for his first club Austria Vienna. He has won 20 caps for his country.
