Albion head coach Oscar Garcia has warned his players to treat League Two newcomers Newport County like a Championship team in the Capital One Cup at The Amex tomorrow night.
The injury-hit Seagulls have been taken to replays in the FA Cup by Woking, FC United of Manchester and Wrexham in recent seasons and were dumped out of the Capital One Cup 3-0 at Swindon last year.
Oscar told The Argus: "Every season it happen sometimes that teams from a lower division win. Players must think about this and think they are playing against a Championship team. This should be the mentality."
Newport arrive in good heart for Oscar's first competitive home game in charge after beating Accrington Stanley 4-1 at home on Saturday.
The Spaniard said: "The game is important, because we are wearing the shirt and we have to defend these colours in all the games. They have scored lots of goals and I am expecting a team with a lot of enthusiasm.
"All the games at The Amex will be special for me and for sure the first competitive one will be exciting, to play in front of our fans."
