Crawley lost the leadership of the Conference after two second-half goals condemned them to a 2-1 defeat at AFC Wimbledon which returned the Dons to top spot.
Reds had gone ahead in the 42nd minute when Richard Brodie dispossessed Ed Harris and teed up Matt Tubbs for a close-range finish and his seventh goal of the season.
It was no more than the visitors deserved and they kept Wimbledon at arm's length for much of the second half.
Tubbs should have added to their lead when he got through but goalkeeper Seb Brown kept out his shot with his legs.
Brodie headed wide from an inviting position but the game was turned on its head by two goals in three minutes.
Sam Hatton scored a 74th-minute equaliser when he lashed in a corner from Rashid Yussuff and three minutes later Danny Kedwell met Hatton's deep cross with a looping header into the top corner.
Crawley boss Steve Evans said: “If they are the benchmark for this league, and I’m not sure they will be because I believe there are better teams than them, then we will be up there.
"We were very comfortable at 1-0 and the boys are very down as you would imagine but we will bounce back.”
