Craig Davies has backed Jim Gannon to revive Albion if the Stockport chief becomes manager.
Davies, who played under Gannon at Stockport during a free-scoring loan spell this season from Oldham, said: "You only have to look at the way he has taken Stockport forward since he has been there.
"I got on well with him and if he came here I am sure Brighton would go forward as well.
"I think he is a good manager. His tactics worked. Every time we went out on a Saturday we knew what our jobs were. He was really professional."
Davies trained yesterday after missing Saturday's 1-0 win at Millwall with a virus and returns to the squad against Northampton at Withdean tonight.
The Welsh international, signed by Micky Adams during the January transfer window, said: "It has been difficult to see the manager that brought me in go. I liked him a lot.
"I thought he was a good manager and a good person as well but we cannot dwell on it, we have got to get on with things.
"The boys did that on Saturday and hopefully, if I get the chance tonight, I can do that as well."
