Robert Jones returns to the scene of his Premier League debut when he referees Albion’s next home game.
The Merseyside-based official has been given the middle for the Seagulls’ fixture versus Aston Villa on Sunday.
It will be his 34th game of the season across all competitions.
Jones has shown 149 yellows cards and five reds.
His most recent game was the 3-3 FA Cup semi-final thriller between Manchester United and Coventry.
Albion last saw him on the night they went down 4-0 at Luton Town.
Jones made his Prem debut in December, 2019, when Graham Potter’s Albion lost at home to Sheffield United as Oli McBurnie scored the only goal of the game.
His video assistant for this fixture will be the vastly experienced Michael Oliver.
The full officiating team for Albion v Aston Villa will be as follows.
Referee: Robert Jones. Assistants: Ian Hussin, Wade Smith. Fourth official: Stuart Attwell. VAR: Michael Oliver. Assistant VAR: Dan Cook.
