Tariq Lamptey will miss the Liverpool game – so who steps up for Albion?
That is the decision Graham Potter and his staff will have pondered this week.
And do they retain the three-man set-up with wing-backs?
Joel Veltman looks a strong contender, be it as wing-back or in a four.
He came off the bench and operated as full-back with Lamptey ahead of him as Albion protected their 2-1 lead at Aston Villa late on.
The Dutch international started at right wing-back in the pre-season friendly against Chelsea.
Steven Alzate has played at wing-back at times and Jayson Molumby filled in for a Carabao Cup tie.
Alireza Jahanbakhsh is another who could, in theory, come into the thinking.
Potter admits there isn't another Tariq
Ben White has played at right-back in a four for the under-23s in the past and could take that role again.
Adam Webster is another who has operated on the right of defence at times.
If it is to be a back four, that opens up questions about the left side of defence.
Solly March has done well as wing-back but operated wide ahead of Dan Burn for the closing stages at Villa.
The decisions and questions underline what a key player Lamptey has become.
However, although he is ever-present as a starter in the league, he has been substituted three times, two of them before the hour.
So Albion have had to cope without him before this sdeason.
How do you see them doing it this time?
