Niki Maenpaa has set his sights on first team football after leaving Albion.
And he would love that to be in England.
The Finnish international goalkeeper is moving on after three campaigns as back-up to first David Stockdale, then Mathew Ryan.
He said: “When I arrived at the club, of course I hoped it would have gone a little bit differently and would have played more games, but overall it’s been three amazing years here.
“The first season, we nearly got promoted, the second season, we got promoted, and then last season we stayed in the Premier League - it’s been an amazing experience to be part of what we’ve achieved as a team.
“Personally, I have to go because I want to play games and I couldn't see it happening at Brighton - but that’s football.
“It’s been a good time for me and my family here. We’ve really enjoyed it.
“I’m still really ambitious and hungry to play games. I feel good physically and mentally, and I just have to make this step now and look for something else.
“I’m really pleased that the club wanted me to stay here, but at the moment, for my career, the best thing for me is to move on.”
Maenpaa hopes to stay in this country.
He added: “I’ve very much enjoyed living in England. Brighton has been amazing, the people are really welcoming here and the atmosphere is really nice.
“We love the city and our baby girl was born here, so the place will always be a very special place for us.
“I’d also like to thank the supporters, they’ve been amazing during my time here, through the good and bad times.
“My main target is to stay in England. I still feel like I have a lot to give to English football.
“Hopefully I get a chance to play football somewhere. That’s what I’m looking for."
